Drake and Johnson Rim Ride to Victory 8/15/08 Deming, WA – Rim Riders were rejoicing on Peoples Bank night at Deming Speedway, as the top groove was wicked fast for main event action. In the Lifestyles RV 1200’s, Eric Drake rode around the top of Cody Anderlini on the opening lap to take the initial lead. Drake continued to use the high groove to pace the field opening up a full straightaway advantage before a spinning Brent Holloway caused a yellow. Knowing Anderlini was behind him and that Cody runs well around the lower groove, Drake made a strategic decision to protect low and make Anderlini drive around the high side if he wanted the lead. The decision paid dividends for Drake as Anderlini’s car couldn’t roll around the top side, giving Drake the win. Anderlini secured second while Jason Bloodgood brought home third. In the Frontier Chevrolet / Speedmart 600’s, Trey Starks took the lead on the outset followed by Dustin O’Brien and Logan Forler. The top 3 cars freight trained around the bottom of the track as Kyle Johnson picked his way forward on the high groove. Johnson, the fourth fastest qualifier, had to come from the b main after missing the transfer in his heat, and used his b main laps to experiment with his setup. Finding his car locked down hard on the cushion, Johnson sailed around his competitors one by one until finally blowing by Starks for the lead on lap 17 and winning the race by almost 3 seconds. Starks held on for a second place finish with Colton Heath rim riding his way from 10th to a podium finish in third. Chad Sinner picked a good night to reintroduce himself to victory lane at Deming Speedway. With many of his sponsors on hand, Sinner easily handled the full field of PMP Chassis 600 restricted cars, leading all 20 laps of their feature. Jacob Buckenmeyer was second, Rece Goetz third. Jake Benson extended his points lead in the Advanced Sprint Car & Toys for Trucks 250’s. Ran down race leader Eric Turner in open air, then once in traffic, used a slower car like a basketball style screen as he drove underneath Turner going into turn 3 on the 15th laps. Turner, hung out to dry on the high groove behind the slower car, had no choice but to relinquish the spot to Benson who went on to win the race comfortably. Turner held off his brother Brandon Turner for second. Congratulations go out to Isaac Abenroth for his first career victory in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprints. Abenroth led all 15 laps of the main event, holding off points leader Skyler Pawlowicz and Robie Price to take home the big trophy for the first time. All 5 classes will be in action next Friday at Deming Speedway for Al’s Honda night. Ticket information is available at www.demingspeedway.com
