Wild Night One at 2018 IBEW NECA Clay Cup

7/19/18

Everson, WA – NIght one of the 2018 Clay Cup Nationals presented by IBEW NECA was wild, with 110 cars contesting racing action across three divisions. As the dust settled on night one, Liam Ryan, Lane Taylor and Dalton Parreira stood victorious in winner’s circle.

Ryley Mayer controlled the first 21 laps of the 600 Open main event until disaster struck on lap 22. A lap car careened sideways off turn two, collecting Mayer in the process and ending his evening. This handed the lead and win to Liam Ryan, who was followed by Kyle Mitchell and Robbie Price to the finish.

Lane Taylor found a path around the outside of the speedway that powered him into the lead around Dakota Drake on lap 12 and eventually into victory lane. Rolling hard off an aggressive cushion, Taylor used the outside groove to work his way into the lead and prelim night win, followed by Drake and Peyton Hagen.

Dalton Parreira scored a win in the Junior Sprint division, coming from deep in the field to the lead on lap 14 of the 20 lap main en route to the victory. Axle Oudman was the runner up with Levi Hillier rounding out the podium.
