Peterson, Holmwood, Hillier & Constance Win at Mid Season Championships

7/2/21

Everson, WA – With a full crowd on hand for the first time since 2019, Deming Speedway hosted Mid Season Championship night with a huge fireworks display presented by Highline Performance. In the extended main events, Jared Peterson, Derek Holmwood, Levi Hillier and Brooklyn Constance.

In the main event of the evening, Jared Peterson came from eighth to win the Speedmart 600 Open main event. Using the high side to pick cars off left and right, Peterson made the final pass for the lead on lap 26 to secure the victory, with Ryley Mayer and Dylan Resch rounding out the podium. Resch won the scramble with heat wins going to Ryan Holz and Levi Kuntz.

While Derek Holmwood led every lap of the Shots 2 Go Espresso main event he had to dig hard to keep that to spot in the late stages. Brock Lemley worked his way into second in the late portion of the race and threw a couple of huge moves on Holmwood to try and take the race lead. Holmwood countered the first big slidejob attempt with a perfect crossover, and blocked a second slide attempt with a quick move to block the low groove in turn three that ended up sealing the win. Lemley would settle for second with Dakota Drake taking third. Holmwood won the scramble with Dick Williams and Clennon Holloway taking heat wins.

It was all clear sailing for Levi Hillier in the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted main event as he led every lap with ease to take the win in the 30 lap feature. Levi Kuntz finished nearly five seconds back of Hillier in second and Corbin Ramsey was third. Hillier also took the win in the scramble. Heat wins went to Diane Knutzen and jayden Huppert while Keira Zylstra won the B Feature.

Similar to the restricted division main, Brooklyn Constance had an easy run of things out front in the Clean Crawls JR Sprints. After winning the scramble, Constance led all twenty-five laps of the main without challenge as she stormed toward another feature win. Avery Askvig and McKenna Morgan had a spirited battle for second with Askvig coming out on top. Colton Knapp won the heat race.
