Oudman and Morgan Are First Time Winners: Peterson and Holmwood Win

Everson, WA – A pair of youngsters won their first career main events in their respective divisions, while two veterans collected their first wins of the year on a hot April night at Deming Speedway.

In the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted, Axel Oudman scored a long sought after first victory in the division after leading all 25 laps of the feature. A previous winner in the Junior Sprint class, Oudman had been close numerous times but finally put 25 perfect laps together as he took the win ahead of Levi Hillier and Levi Kuntz. Heat wins went to Kuntz, Kane Van Sickle and Rylee Kentch.

The Clean Crawls Junior Sprints also saw  first time winner, with McKenna Morgan getting a popular victory while leading all twenty laps. She was hounded around the track by Brooklyn Constance, with the two ladies racing hard and clean through traffic before seeing Morgan take the top spot and enjoying a rowdy celebration in victory lane. Constance’s second place was a career best, with Braeden Wager taking third for the second consecutive week. Avery Askvig and Wager won the heats.

Speedmart 600 Open action closed the show with a rapid moving 25 lap main. Blaine Granberg led the first seven laps before Jared Peterson drove underneath him to take the top spot on lap eight. Peterson would motor on to lead the rest of the way and score the win, with Granberg running a strong second. The action for third was intense, with Jesse Schlotfeldt holding off Kaitlyn Hammer for the position in the end. The heats were won by Granberg, Schlotfeldt and Ryley Mayer.

Derek Holmwood appeared to have the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 main well in hand, as he had led the first 15 laps with ease. Around lap 16, Brock Lemley, who was running second, made a line change from the low groove to running the rim around the race track. The change, along with some slower traffic, helped Brock erase a 1.8 second lead that Holmwood had held, but the veteran Holmwood felt Brock coming, and made the right moves late to keep the top spot and score the win. Lemley settled for second ahead of Steven Hendrickson who ran third. Holmwood and Tyson Lemley won the heats.
