Mother Nature Fails to Stop Deming Speedway as Margeson, Crum, Evans, Kuntz & Van Sickle Win

9/18/20

Everson, WA – Mother Nature tried to rob the racers and viewers watching on DirtOvalTv.com of a full race night, but the crew at Deming Speedway had other plans, starting the show early and moving at a blistering pace to finish the show at 8:33 pm despite a light mist that persisted through the heat races. Winners on the night were Evan Margeson, Chance Crum, Nick Evans, Levi Kuntz and Kane Van Sickle.

The Speedmart 600 Open class finished the night off as Evan Margeson drove to the win. Ryley Mayer led the first lap as the pair were nearly side by side as they crossed under the flag stand. Evan made the high groove hookup coming out of turn two to nose ahead and used his momentum to clear Mayer for the lead coming out of turn four. With open racetrack for the rest of the main, Margeson led easily the rest of the way to pickup the win ahead of Mayer and Colin Mackey.

Jared Gundersen had early control of the shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 main event before slower traffic reached up and bit the veteran driver. A slower car had lost control toward the back of the field and blended back into the field directly ahead of Jared, right as Chance Crum had closed the gap between the two. Gundersen had to jam on his brakes to avoid a collision with the slower car, while Crum kept his speed around the high side of the track and got by both the slower car and Jared at the same time to take the lead on lap eight With clean air ahead of him, Crum was dominant over the final seventeen laps, collecting his thirteenth overall win of the season between the three divisions he runs in at Deming Speedway. Gundersen was second and Alex Lewis took third.

The final appearance of the year for the NW Focus Midgets at Deming Speedway saw Nick Evans roll to the win. Evans used the low groove to pass eventual runner up Levi Harless on lap 11 before grabbing his second victory of the season at the track. Shane Smith picked up third in the feature.

In the Mytrafficman.NET 600 restricted class, Levi Kuntz picked up his third feature win of the season. Cejay Adkins led the first 12 laps before slower cars became a factor, allowing Kuntz a gap to streak by. Kuntz would enjoy a solid lead all the way to the end, with Jesson Jacobson taking over second place late and third going to Adkins.

Kane Van Sickle now has seven wins on the year in the Clean Crawls JR Sprints. Avery Askvig held the top spot for the first ten laps, but like many of the features that would come after, Van Sickle found a hole amongst slower traffic to scoot by Avery and the slower car in one move, giving him the lead and eventual win. Jayce Medcalf got by Avery late for second place.
