Crum, Holmwood, Peterson, Constance and Medcalf Win at Deming Speedway

Crum, Holmwood, Peterson, Constance and Medcalf Win at Deming Speedway

8/14/20

Everson,WA – A great night of fast paced action at Deming Speedway on Friday night finished with both familiar and unfamiliar faces in victory lane. Chance Crum, Derek Holmwood and Jared Peterson all enjoyed repeat wins in their respective classes, while Haley Constance and Jayce Medcalf took first victories in their divisions.

In the Speedmart 600 Open division, it was Chance Crum going wire to wire for the win. Setting a torrid pace, Crum saw his sizable lead chopped down as he entered slower traffic, as Evan Margeson did a good job of closing on Chance as he tried to navigate slower cars. A couple of deft moves gave control back to Crum who closed out the night with the victory ahead of Margeson and Ryan Holz.

The Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 main event saw Crum and Derek Holmwood engage in quite the chess match early, with Holmwood leading and Crum pressuring both high and low. Crum would nab the top spot with a pass off the bottom of turn four on lap nine, and the roles would reverse, with Derek trying moves and Chance now countering. It appeared late that Crum had done enough to secure the win, opening up about four car lengths on Derek, but a tangle with lapped traffic sent Chance flipping wildly, ending his night and handing the top spot to Holmwood. On the ensuing lap 23 restart, Holmwood took off to the high side of the track but was surprised by Steven Hendrickson, who made a monster run on the low side of turns three and four stick and in the process, took the lead. Derek battled back hard on the cushion, retaking the lead off turn four coming to the white flag and held strong to the finish in capturing the win ahead of Hendrickson and third place Tyson Lemley.

The NW Focus Midgets made another appearance at Deming Speedway where Jared Peterson collected his third win of the year at the track and sixth overall with the series. Chance Crum led early as Peterson stalked him in the second spot. The pair altered lines many times before Peterson carried the low groove through one and two on the 16th lap and pulled even with Crum on the back straight. Nosing ahead of Crum off turn four to lead the lap, Peterson slid up to break Crum’s momentum in turn two and gradually eased away to secure the win. Crum would take second ahead of Shane Smith.

In the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted class, Haley Constance picked up her first ever win in the division. Constance was dynamite all race long, leading every lap of the main, enduring multiple restarts along the way but stretching to a comfortable advantage on every restart. Keira Zylstra was second with Levi Hillier finishing in third.

Another first time winner visited victory lane on Friday night, with Jayce Medcalf getting the win in the Clean Crawls Junior Sprints. Medcalf led all twenty laps of the main event for win number one, followed by Avery Askvig and Kane Van Sickle.
