Everson, WA – On the final night of racing in 2022 at Deming Speedway, four new champions walked away with season titles, three of them winning the main events in their division to top off their fantastic years. 

Colin Mackey played the role of spoiler on Friday night as the lone driver who kept the season champion in their division out of victory lane. Levi Kuntz secured the season title for the Speedmart 600 Open class but couldn’t take the race win, as Mackey outdueled him in a slidejob fest right around the midpoint of the race en route to his fifth win of the year. Jesse Schlotfeldt was second with Spencer Constance running third in the main event. The scramble win went to Kuntz, while heat winners were Constance and Dylan Resch. 

The party was nearly spoiled for Derek Holmwood in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 division. Holmwood wrapped up the title just by signing in to race and led every lap of the main event, but Jared Gundersen nearly took the win on the final lap. Gundersen drove hard to the inside of turn three and four on the final circuit, but Holmwood had just enough momentum off the high groove to win by .040 at the checkered flag. Terry Lewis raced to third. Heat race winners were Dick Williams, Bryce Bogardus and Tyson Cross, while Holmwood won the scramble. 

Levi Harless had the point title wrapped up in the NW Focus Midget division but also wanted a feature win to go with it. A move on lap three gave Levi the lead over Jesse Munn, and from there, he’d go on to take the checkered flag first despite a strong late effort from Nick Evans and Jeff Westergard. The scramble win went to Harless while Kyle Hanson won the heat race. 

By virtue of just starting the main event, Corbin Ramsey locked up the point championship in the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted division. With the championship in hand, Ramsey looked to cap his season off with a feature win, which he did despite a late race tangle with a slower car that nearly ended the main event prematurely for him. Ramsey would hang on for the victory ahead of Carson Guffie and Peyton Drake. Ramsey also won the scramble, while Avery Touchette, Clayton Jalakas and Cruz Kentch won the heat races. 

Chase Whitney punctuated his season championship in the Clean Crawls JR Sprint class with a win on Friday night. Whitney led all 25 laps of the main event. McKenna Morgan finished her year with a second place run and Cooper Anderson was third. Whitney won the Scramble. Colton Knapp and Kameron Koroshes were the heat race winners.
