Everson, WA – Midseason Championship Night at Deming Speedway featured packed grandstands and great racing on a cool July Friday night. IKO Roofing presented the action on track and the huge fireworks show that followed, with races being won by Tristin Thomas, Kyle Mitchell, Jeff Westergard, Hudson Little and Luke Coates. 

Up first on the card were the Capstone Plastering JR Sprints, where Luke Coates ran to his first win of the year. Coates took the lead from Kayson Sargent on lap two and went the rest of the way for the win, with Sargent taking second and Lucas Fisher continuing his consecutive podium streak from the beginning of the year with a third place run. Sargent won the scramble while Cole Dishneau and Wyatt Dart won the heat races. 

In the Doyle Guffie’s Rallye Auto Sales 600 Restricted division, Hudson Little rolled to his first Deming Speedway win. Little led all 25 laps of the main for his first win, with Dayton Empey taking second after applying some pressure in slower traffic. Hudson Johnson finished third. Little won the scramble. Heat wins went to Drake Wiersma, Hayden Adams, Brooklyn Bracy and Samantha Fraser. 

The NW Focus Midgets returned for another round of action at Deming Speedway on Friday night, with Jeff Westergard taking his first win of the year in the series. Westergard led the first 13 laps before Jared Peterson took the top spot on lap 14. Peterson only led two laps before a mechanical malfunction sidelined him, handing the lead back to Jeff who’d lead the rest of the way for the win. Braeden Wagar pressured Jeff late but took second at the end with Shane Smith running third. Jeff also won the heat race. 

Issues for the leader became a recurring story for the rest of the show, as Nate Vaughn was in firm control of the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 main event before car issues knocked him out of the race on lap 23. Kyle Mitchell took over the top spot and went all the way for the feature win, with Dakota Drake closing late but settling for second place and Jared Alseth finishing third. Vaughn won the scramble while Tyson Cross took the heat race win. 

In the Speedmart 600 class, Jared Peterson took the lead from Tristin Thomas on lap seven and held a comfortable lead until the pair rolled into heavy lapped traffic around lap 12. Both drivers cut through the slower cars effectively until lap 16 when Peterson couldn’t find a clean path through turns three and four, giving Thomas a shot at the lead. Tristin found a lane where he kept he speed up and took the lead, and would hold it the rest of the way to take the victory. Peterson ran second until about three laps to go when he pulled off, handing second place to Colton Knapp and third to Levi Hillier. Peterson won the scramble. Heat wins went to Cooper Anderson, Corbin Ramsey and Levi Hillier.
