Everson, WA – An outstanding 116 cars competed at Deming Speedway on Friday and Saturday for Mt Baker Academics and Athletics weekend. Thousands of dollars were raised for the school, while drivers competed in non wing action in the 600 and 1200 class for the first time in many years. 

The Speedmart 600 division finished their non wing weekend with point’s leader Colin Mackey in victory lane once again. Mackey led all 25 laps of the feature, patiently rolling the low side of the speedway all the way to the win. After running second to Tanner Holm on Friday, Levi HIllier collected second place for the second straight night while Dustin Ramsey was the hard charger and finished third. 

Night two of the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 class wingless style belonged to Nate Vaughn. After a podium run on night one, Vaughn found the extra speed he was looking for on Saturday night, leading from lap three through twenty five of the feature with little challenge in taking the win. Jared Alseth led the first few laps and ended up in second while Friday night victory Kyle Mitchell ran third. 

The final feature of the year for the NW Focus Midgets went to former track champion Nick Evans. Nick cleared Ashley Thompson on lap four for the lead and kept Friday night feature winner Ryan Orchard at bay over the final few laps to secure the win. Orchard was runner up on the night and Shane Smith was third. The third place run for Smith should secure him the season point’s championship. 

Jonathan Olson swept the weekend in the Doyle Guffie’s Rallye Auto Sales 600 Restricted class. After collecting his first feature win on Friday, Olson rode the rim to run down Drake Wiersma before darting underneath him on lap 15 for the race winning pass. Colton Knapp ended up second in the main event with Wiersma securing third. 

Jace Coates was the winner in the Capstone Plastering JR Sprints. After a rough night one that required an extensive car repair, Coates out dueled Kayson Sargent at the front of the field to take the victory. Sargent nearly took the lead a number of times from Coates but ended up with a second place run, while Friday night’s feature winner Savanna Hiller ran third.
