Price Scores First Win in 8 Years at Deming Speedway

The racing was fast and action packed at Deming Speedway on Friday night with just two nights left in the 2017 campaign. Action was sponsored by North Coast Credit Union and Special T Signs and Graphics and saw Robbie Price, Steven Hendrickson, Dakota Drake and Austin Held take feature wins.

A heavy cushion played a huge role in the racing in the Speedmart Hoosier 600 Open division. Ryley Mayer led the first three laps before Jared Peterson took the lead away on lap four. Peterson would lead up until lap 20 with Robbie Price hot on his heels until the cushion reached up and bit him in turn three, allowing Price to dive underneath to take the top spot. From there, Robbie raced away to his first Deming Speedway win since 2009. Peterson settled for a strong second with Evan Margeson taking home third.

Steven Hendrickson was dominant in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 non wing main event. He led all 25 laps of the main, going without challenge after about lap five as his car gained speed as the race grew long. Chance Crum ran second with Derek Holmwood taking third.

A caution plagued Mytrafficman.NET 600 restricted main event finished with Dakota Drake taking the victory, Drake lost her lead briefly on the seventh lap but got it back on lap eight to take the win ahead of Blaine Granberg and Jeremy Holz. The race was shortened to 10 laps as the field caused nine combined caution and red flags in that period.

Austin Held was victorious in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprints. Held tracked down race leader Addisen Hagen and made the pass on the inside of turn three on lap five to take the lead and eventual win. Hagen scored a career best second with Jesson Jacobson running third.
